The official police report states that the next-door neighbor, Clifford Henderson, came over to complain about loud music being played at Dumas' birthday party. Police say there was a fight over the noise.

Cannon allegedly fired a weapon and hit his mother and the next-door neighbor. Dumas passed away at a nearby hospital.

Henderson reportedly died at the scene of the shooting, according to local police. There has been no official confirmation that the man intentionally shot his mother or if the shooting was accidental.

Cannon was arrested in Opelika, Alabama. He was then jailed in Tuskegee, Alabama.
