West Alabama Works to Host Workforce Stations in Tuscaloosa
West Alabama Works is continuing its mobile job seeker services this week, stopping in Tuscaloosa, Marengo and Hale Counties from Oct. 14-16.
According to a Monday press release, this event highlights the Black Belt region, "one of the most underemployed and impoverished areas of Alabama."
"After kicking off the tour in Greene and Sumter counties last week, we’re excited to bring services to more parts of West Alabama," Black Belt Workforce Center Coordinator Tammi Holley said in the press release. "It was awesome to be able to serve our community members by taking our mobile workforce unit directly to them in a safe way."
The mobile workforce stands will help attendees apply for jobs through Career Connect. Career Connect links job applicants to in-demand careers with over 16 employers in healthcare, manufacturing, hospitality, automotive and construction industries.
"Completing a Career Connect profile is truly the start to a great career in our region," said Outreach and Program Manager Lauren Collier in the press release. "We’re already seeing the effects of Career Connect for last week’s outreach event attendees. I can’t wait to continue sharing these free, helpful resources with West Alabama."
