Delta made landfall on Friday evening near Creole, Louisiana. It was a Category 2 hurricane with winds of 100 miles per hour. This happened just 14 miles east of Cameron, where Laura made landfall in August.

It has been an active hurricane season for us all. “Delta's landfall was the record 10th landfalling hurricane or tropical storm in the U.S. this season, which breaks the previous record of nine such landfalls in a season that had stood since 1916,” per The Weather Channel.

Now, Alabama Power crews are headed west to assist in Delta restoration. “More than 70 Alabama Power team members from across the state, including line crews and support personnel, are traveling west Monday to support utilities in Texas. The company also released contract crews to aid in restoration.”

According to Power Outages U.S., for Texas, Louisiana, and Mississippi at the time of this story, Monday at Noon, there are 231,643 without power.

“We’re sending our Alabama Power storm team crews to provide assistance to those impacted,” said company spokesperson Danielle Kimbrough. “Through mutual assistance, we’re able to deliver the type of service our customers know and trust to those in need following severe weather.”

Thank you, Alabama Power for all you do.
