Tim McGraw, Faith Hill Sing ‘Speak to a Girl’ at 2017 ACM Awards
Tim McGraw and Faith Hill treated fans to a performance of their brand-new duet “Speak to a Girl” at the 2017 ACM Awards.
Twenty years after Hill and McGraw sang their duet "It's Your Love" together at the 1997 ACM Awards, the country music power couple treated T-Mobile Arena to another stellar duet, this time from a forthcoming joint album. Starting out on different stages and meeting in the middle, Hill and McGraw looked effortlessly poised and beautiful as they sang about treating women with respect and dignity.
"You better respect your mama, respect the hell out of her," McGraw and Hill sang on the ACM Awards stage. "'Cause that's how you talk to a woman / That's how you speak to a girl."
As Hill sang the last notes of their new single, she could barely contain her excitement, jumping up and down for joy as the crowd immediately rose to give a standing ovation.
"Speak to a Girl" is from McGraw and Hill's upcoming collaborative record. Hill says that, from first listen, she connected to the song “lyrically, melodically, everything," and McGraw connected with it from a male perspective.
“It’s important that young women hear that message from the men in their lives and from the other women in their lives,” McGraw says. “It’s important that the young men hear this message so they know how to speak to a girl.”
"Speak to a Girl" gave McGraw and Hill their highest Billboard Country Airplay chart debut as a duo. Following its release, it debuted at No. 19 on that chart, and landed at No. 33 on Billboard‘s Hot Country Songs chart.
Hill and McGraw will soon launch a 60-plus-city concert tour. The 2017 Soul2Soul Tour is scheduled to kick off on April 7 in New Orleans, La., and run through the end of October.
