Possible Severe Weather Late Tonight And Overnight

Please stay weather aware tonight and during the overnight hours as we have the potential for severe weather for some parts of our listening area.  The Storm Prediction Center has some portions of our coverage area under a “marginal” zone, which allows for the possibility of damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail.

As of right now, the timing for this severe weather for our listening areas could take place between 1 am through 4 am.

The National Weather Service has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook, which means “Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible from 11 pm to 4 am tonight across northwestern Central Alabama, generally along and northwest of a line from Carrollton to Blountsville. Primary threats include damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail.  Minor flooding will continue through this afternoon along the Coosa River above Weiss Lake.”  This includes the following counties, “Marion-Lamar-Fayette-Winston-Walker-Blount-Etowah-Calhoun-Cherokee-Cleburne-Pickens-Tuscaloosa-Jefferson-Shelby-St. Clair-Talladega-Clay-Randolph-Sumter-Greene-Hale-Perry-Bibb-Chilton-Coosa-Tallapoosa-Chambers-Marengo-Dallas-Autauga-Lowndes-Elmore-Montgomery-Macon-Bullock-Lee-Russell-Pike-Barbour.”
