The NCAA voted today to allow all-spring sport athletes an additional year of eligibility after their seasons were cut short due to the COVID-19 coronavirus. Alabama softball, baseball, track and field, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and the Alabama women's crew teams will all be granted an extra year of eligibility.

The NCAA announced that in accordance with its decision today that universities would be allowed to be flexible with its roster sizes and limits which would impact several spring sports who face roster limitations. Alabama softball would likely field a team of 25 next season if all its seniors decided to return for an additional year.

For sports with partial scholarships such as baseball and softball, it appears it will be up to the universities and athletic programs to determine how much financial aide each sport will be able to offer its athletes based off what it offered the athletes in the 2020 season.

The seniors who have graduated will still need to enroll in additional classes to be eligible to participate in athletics and those who are on partial scholarship will still need to cover the difference out of pocket to participate.
