Just three days after finishing tied for 37th at the 2022 U.S. Open in Brookline, Mass., Justin Thomas has decided to withdraw from this week's PGA Tour Travelers Championship in Cromwell, CT.

Thomas took to Twitter to address his withdrawal as the golf world is in turmoil due to golfers leaving the PGA Tour to join the LIV Tour. The former Crimson Tide golfer cited a back issue as the reason why he would not be participating in this weekend's event.

Thomas has largely had a successful season as he won his second major in May at the PGA Championship. He's currently ranked No. 5 in the world and sits in fourth place in Fedex Points standings.

He's made nine top-10 finishes on the PGA tour this season and finished third in three events to go along with his PGA Championship win.

The Louisville-native has been one of the most outspoken supporters of the PGA tour as the golf world is fracturing. He said in his tweet that he plans on resting his back and playing the remainder of the PGA Tour season.

Thomas has three more events after the Travelers Championship concludes before the British Open gets underway on July 14 at the famed St. Andrews Old Course in Scotland.
