Jalen Hurts Pens Letter To NFL After Near Accident in Washington

This past weekend in Washington, following a game between the Washington Football Team and Philadelphia Eagles, things almost took a turn for the worse. Quarterback Jalen Hurts was walking off the field when fans, who were leaning over a fence, broke the barricade and fell onto the field. Fortunately, no fans were seriously injured and Hurts helped make sure the fans were alright.

Today, Jalen Hurts wrote a letter to both the Washington Football Team and the NFL, requesting an update on what is being done to prevent future incidents such as the one that happened Sunday.

Hurts elaborated in the letter that:

"...I would like to know what safeguards the NFL and the Washington Football Team are implementing to prevent this from ever occurring in the future." Hurts went on to also say, "The resources of the NFL and team organizations ensure our safety through playing this physical sport., but what happened on Sunday put both fans and players unnecessarily at risk."

Hurts also addressed the situation in meeting with the media Tuesday:

This is not the first incident of problems at FedEx Field this season, however. A pipe burst in the first game of the season, and while originally many feared that a sewage pipe had burst, fans were instead soaked with rainwater.

The press box at FedEx field also is suffering from water leakage as well.

At the time of writing, neither the NFL nor the Washington Football Team has commented on Hurts' request.
