Austin is in his second year in Tuscaloosa after getting his initial freshman season cut short due to COVID-19. Austin saw playing time in 12 games last year while starting in five games. Alabama was 16-1 last season prior to starting SEC play and having the season cut short.

The 19-year old out of Georgia had five hits and one RBI as well as scoring six runs himself last season while helping the Crimson Tide in the infield. He also earned SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll last season.

The 2021 Alabama roster will be full of talent due to the NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility to spring sport athletes. He was ranked the 19th overall player in the 2019 class and was drafted in the 20th round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers in 2019 but opted to attend Alabama.
