Another cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic, this time its Alabama Fan Day. The popular event marked the beginning of fall camp by allowing Crimson Tide fans to get autographs from their favorite student athletes and coaches. Nick's Kids Luncheon was also cancelled due to the pandemic.

The event was always free and often had a line to get in due to the popularity of Coach Saban and the Alabama players. Many Alabama fans would watch the scrimmage and then race to get in line for an autograph from the iconic coach and future football stars.

Unfortunately the move to cancel the event had to be made to ensure the members of the football program are limiting their contact with the public as much as possible.

Alabama is set to take the practice field, opening fall camp on Monday, August 17. The Tide is currently scheduled to get in 20 practice days with 15 rest days scattered throughout fall camp.

Alabama opens the 2020 season on September 26 and the opponent is still unknown. Athletic Director Greg  Byrne said in a Zoom call with the media that he expects the SEC to release the order and dates of opponents within the week.

It has been a strange offseason for football programs across the country and while it is unfortunate for the Crimson Tide faithful that Fan Day is cancelled at least the SEC is still marching forward with football.
