I have lived in Tuscaloosa/Northport since 1988 (the first time around), moving away for a bit and moved back in 2021.

Personally, I've almost hit, at least half-a-dozen people on the streets of Tuscaloosa and Northport, Alabama.

OF COURSE, most of these near-misses happened on Skyland Boulevard and McFarland Boulevard.

Thank GOD for great brake systems on my vehicles!

If not, I would have probably killed someone.

The most mind-boggling and frustrating is when this happens AFTER DARK.

What are you doing in the road at 10 pm? or MIDNIGHT?

I've even encountered this on my way to work at 5:00am, on Skyland Boulevard.

GET OUT OF THE DANG STREETS

Isn't that an obvious thing everyone should already know?

Now, comes this news that Alabama ranks among the highest in the USA for pedestrian deaths.

This study, according to WTVM-TV, ranked Alabama as one of the 10 most dangerous states in the country for pedestrian deaths, coming in at No. 9.

According to WTVM-TV, the study added that Alabama's pedestrian death rate is 56.8% higher than the median for all states.

Much of the time, the accidents occur while people are.....

Yeah, you guessed it. It's because people are on their cellphones while walking.

That social media post is not worth dying for, right?

Those are just a FEW of the many, many examples of late.
