When Will Tuscaloosa See Freezing Temperatures Today?
Temperatures are currently above freezing in Tuscaloosa, but a sharp decrease is expected later in the day.
ABC 33/40 and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist James Spann says that Tuscaloosa will begin to see temperatures fall to the freezing point by 3 p.m. this afternoon. This means that roadways and bridges could begin to ice over, so commuters are urged to use extreme caution when headed home.
"Black ice from lingering water on bridges and roads will become an issue tonight and tomorrow morning... we expect lows in the 10-19 degree range early tomorrow," Spann said.
A Winter Storm Warning continues through 9 p.m. for most counties in West Alabama while an Ice Storm Warning continues until 9 p.m. for Fayette, Lamar, Marion, Pickens, and Winston Counties.
These maps show the approximate freeze line, and the eastward progression today and tonight.. Freezing rain continues...
