The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place near 22nd Street and Jemison Avenue Monday night, the area's multi-agency Violent Crimes Unit has confirmed.

Lt. Jack Kennedy, the assistant commander of the VCU, said at 7:23 that the VCU was called to the scene and found one victim shot.

Kennedy did not say if a suspect has been identified or arrested.

This is the second shooting reported in the city in two days.

UPDATE: Kennedy confirmed just after 8:15 Monday that the shooting victim has died and said the VCU is continuing to process the scene and conduct interviews as their investigation goes on.
