A 60-year-old man was charged with attempted murder Monday after he allegedly fired several shots into the vehicle of a man with whom he'd been arguing, police said Tuesday morning.

Captain Jack Kennedy, the commander of the multi-agency Violent Crimes Unit, said the suspect, Ronnie Williams, was in a personal dispute with another man around 4 p.m. Monday. Police believe when the other participant got in a vehicle to leave the scene, Williams drew a gun and fired into the vehicle several times.

No one was struck or injured by the gunfire.

Police were called to the seen, which was in the 3000 block of Pine Street, and after interviewing witnesses and reviewing available surveillance footage, they found cause to arrest Williams.

He was booked into the Tuscaloosa County Jail Monday night and charged with attempted murder and illegally possessing a firearm -- Kennedy said Williams is a felon and should not have had the gun in the first place.

His bond was set at $75,000, but that had already been paid Tuesday morning and Williams had been released.
