Three Tuscaloosa Schools on Lockdown After Man Spotted with Gun
Northridge High School, Northridge Middle School and Verner Elementary School in Tuscaloosa were all placed on lockdown Tuesday morning after officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department received reports of a man in the area armed with a handgun.
Department Spokeswoman Lt. Teena Richardson said TPD was made aware of a white male carrying a handgun near the school around 10:20 a.m. Tuesday.
"In an effort to protect the students, facility and staff, all three schools in the Northridge area has been placed on lockdown until this situation has been resolved," Richardson said.
UPDATE 1:30 p.m.: Police no longer believe there is a threat to any of the schools, but have asked for the public's help identifying the man who caused the lockdown.
