Closings Already Announced for Wednesday, January 17
Most of the snow has moved through west Alabama and it hasn't been too bad, but there is still a strong concern for icing as temperatures drop well below freezing tonight.
In preparation for these travel issues, some schools have already announced closings for Wednesday. The list is short at this time, but we'll update this story as more decisions are made.
- American Christian Academy - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Bibb County Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Demopolis City Schools and offices - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Fayette Christian Academy - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Fayette County Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Hale County Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Holy Spirit Catholic School - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Jasper City Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Lamar County Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Linden County Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Pickens County Schools and Central Office - Will be closed on Wednesday along with after school activities
- Shelton State Community College - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Tuscaloosa City Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
- Tuscaloosa County Schools and Central Offices - Will be closed on Wednesday
- University of Alabama - Will resume classes and normal operations at 12 p.m. on Wednesday
- Walker County Schools - Will be closed on Wednesday
Additional closings:
- All Alabama state agencies will be closed on Wednesday
- The City of Tuscaloosa business services center and municipal court will open at 10 a.m. on Wednesday
- Garbage, trash and recycling collection crews will suspend collection Wednesday, Jan. 17
- Tuscaloosa Public Library - Will be closed on Wednesday
The forecast calls for temperatures in the teens overnight and a high in the mid-30s on Wednesday. Please take caution if you have to leave your house.
