A Jack's Family Restaurant is being built in Northport next to the Aldi grocery store in development on McFarland Boulevard next to Lowe's, city councilman Jeff Hogg told Townsquare Media Friday evening.

"This will be a great addition to our City by adding new sales tax revenue and also creating jobs for our citizens," Hogg said in a post on Facebook.

Hogg, who co-chair's the city's retail committee, said the announcement is just one of many to come for the McFarland Boulevard development project and teased that another would follow soon, this time featuring what he called a "sit down" restaurant.

"The City is very happy to see the hard work of the Developer come to fruition for this area," Hogg said Friday. "While we have high expectations for the growth of this area, we do see the importance of being able to have plenty of options for our citizens.  Jack's has a great business model and we are very excited to see this partnership within our City."

There's no word on when Jack's expects to open across the river, but keep an eye on this site for more news out of Northport and the rest of the Tuscaloosa area.
