James Spann, ABC 33/40, and Townsquare Media Tuscaloosa Chief Meteorologist said that “the severe weather threat for East Alabama is somewhat conditional; it depends on how quickly the air can recover from the early morning rain and storms. There is a chance the storms won't reach severe limits until they move into Georgia.”
Also, Spann noted that “the best chance of severe weather in Alabama today will be along and east of I-65 (the eastern half of the state). A few showers could form over West Alabama this morning, but many places across the western half of the state will be dry today.”
Be sure you stay weather-aware today. The system could impact the Townsquare Media coverage areas between 8 a.m. and 11 a.m. with some more southern counties in our coverage area closer to ending at about 1 p.m. Except for Northwest Central Alabama.
The main concern with this storm system is the threat of damaging winds and hail from heavier storms. However, we can’t rule out an isolated tornado.
We are closely monitoring this system and you can get additional weather information on our Townsquare Media Radio stations. Praise 93.3, 92.9 WTUG, 95.3 The Bear, METV 97.5, Catfish 100.1, Tide 100.9, ALT 101.7, and 105.1 The Block.
