‘Fluff’ Ratliff Celebrated On The Steve Shannon Show

The Alabama athletics family was rocked this past weekend with the passing of Alabama superfan Cameron "Fluffopotomus" Ratliff. The senior was a three-year president of the Alabama basketball student section "Crimson Chaos". Through his social media presence on Twitter and his infectious personality Ratliff resonated with Alabama fans everywhere.

Ratliff joined Steve Shannon on 95.3 The Bear in early March to hype up Alabama nation prior to the Tide's SEC Tournament championship run. It was there he expressed his gratitude to the Crimson Tide basketball program.

"I'm very appreciative of it. The way I feel, someone like me should have absolutely no business being a part of a basketball program like Alabama, especially as a top-10 program as it is now, but that's the reality as it is," said Ratliff. "They've made me feel very welcome in a situation where I shouldn't be welcome at."

Ratliff was memorialized at Coleman Coliseum on Saturday by students and Alabama fans who had gravitated and also again a R&R Cigars on Monday night. Both Alabama AD Greg Byrne and head coach Nate Oats said they would determine how to honor Ratliff's memory.

"It's strange, really. I'm always humbled that anyone wants to talk or meet me. It's always a humbling experience when I go out in town in a restaurant, grocery store or somewhere like that and people just come over and want to talk and shake my hand and meet me," said Ratliff to Shannon in March.

Assistant basketball coach Bryan Hodgson quickly started a GoFundMe for Ratliff's family in his memory. You can contribute to the fund here.

Prominent Alabama fan and Twitter personality Roger Myers joined The Steve Shannon Morning Show to talk about his memories of Ratliff and the impact he had.

"For such a young man, he had an old soul. He just gravitated to people and people gravitated to him," said Meyers. "There's not any way, if you've ever met him or saw him, that you just couldn't love him. He just exudes joy and love and friendliness and everything just poured out of every crevasse in his body."

Meyers described his relationship with Ratliff and his infectious nature with the Alabama fan base. He said Ratliff's heart set him apart from others describing his relationship with a younger special-needs brother and how quickly he assumed leadership of the Crimson Chaos.
