Blake Shelton Begins Construction on Ole Red Tishomingo
Construction is underway on Blake Shelton's new establishment, Ole Red Tishomingo, in his hometown of Tishomingo, Okla.
Set on Main Street, the entertainment venue is scheduled to open in the Fall of 2017. It will include a 4,700-square-foot restaurant and performance space, as well as a 1,400-square-foot retail store. The space borrows its name from Shelton’s 2002 hit "Ol’ Red."
“This song has been such a big record for me,” Shelton says in a press release, “And now it’s turned into this. It’s pretty incredible. When you go in there, it’s going to be our lifestyle, our lifestyle here in Tishomingo.”
The venue is part of the Ole Red brand, which will also include a $20 million multi-level entertainment venue located on Nashville’s Lower Broadway, which will open its doors in 2018.
“We’re investing in this location in Tishomingo because of the tremendous connection Blake has to his fans," Colin Reed, Ryman Hospitality Properties Chairman and CEO, explains. "We believe this venue will attract tourists from all over who want to come hear authentic country music in Blake’s hometown. We view this location as a prime opportunity to add another dimension to the Ole Red brand."
Shelton's Ole Red brand is part of Ryman Hospitality Properties’ strategy to create digital content, retail and entertainment venues that celebrate the country lifestyle, a press release shares.
“I know this is going to become one of those types of venues where people will just want to say that they’ve been there … I’m excited about it,” Shelton said upon the announcement in January, adding that he will definitely take a personal stake in being on hand at the locations. “I don’t think there is a point to it if I don’t.”
