ESPN released a list of the top 50 players in college football as August arrived and Alabama led the way with six players included.

A panel of 19 ESPN reporters, analysts, writers and insiders voted on the list, and defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick took the highest spot among Crimson Tide players at No. 7. The other Alabama players included Calvin Ridley (No. 18)  Bo Scarbrough (No. 26), Jalen Hurts (No. 29), Rashaan Evans (No. 37), and Ronnie Harrison (No. 42).

Add this to a long list of preseason accolades for Fitzpatrick. The junior has already been recognized on eight different preseason award watch lists and earned second team All-SEC honors at SEC Media Days. It's not a surprise when you consider he's already totaled 111 tackles, eight interceptions, and five non-offensive touchdowns in his first two seasons.

He and the rest of the team will have its hands full in the season opener against Florida State. That game will feature a total of 11 of ESPN's top 50 players in college football. The Seminoles were right behind Alabama with five players on the list, including the top-ranked player overall in defensive back Derwin James. That game will kickoff at 7 p.m. on ABC.
