John Berry's new television show, Songs and Stories With John Berry, debuts Thursday (Aug. 3), but The Boot's readers can get a sneak peek at one of its upcoming episodes now. Press play above to watch a clip of Berry's interview with Lee Roy Parnell.
Songs and Stories With John Berry is the culmination of a project that Berry began back in 2001. It started as a two-week run of concerts, a short storybook and a two-disc CD set and eventually evolved into this television show, which will air on Heartland TV, the Family Channel, the Country Network and AMG TV, among other outlets.
"As an artist whose life and career direction was profoundly changed by a song, I am thrilled to bring the world an opportunity to see and hear firsthand from some of my friends and fellow artists the stories surrounding the importance of some of their favorite and most meaningful songs," says Berry in a statement. "For me and so many others, songs help us express what we feel inside and stories are the inspiration for the song that lies within."
The first episodes of Songs and Stories With John Berry were recorded earlier this year at Nashville’s Douglas Corner, where Berry got his first big break in Nashville. Each episode will showcase a different singer and song; in its first season, country heavy-hitters such as Suzy Bogguss, Craig Morgan, Clay Walker and more will join Berry for live performances and storytelling sessions.
Songs and Stories With John Berry's first episode will feature Billy Ray Cyrus; Parnell's episode is scheduled to air on Aug. 10. Songs and Stories With John Berry will air on Heartland TV on Aug. 3 at 8PM ET, and on the other networks at a later date; Heartland TV will also re-air each week's episode on Fridays at 5PM ET, Saturdays at 9PM ET and Sundays at 7PM ET.
