You Can Pick Your Own Blueberries This Summer at a Gorgeous Farm That’s Only 25 Miles Outside of Tuscaloosa
Looking for something fun to do during these hot and hazy summer months? Why not get some fresh air and bring your friends or family along to pick some fresh, ripe blueberries!
Leavelle Farms is just 25 miles outside of Tuscaloosa; you'll find them at 17952 Foxfire Road in Buhl. They've been family owned and operated for the past 75 years, growing hay, raising over 100 cattle, and offering residents a chance to enjoy their famous "You-Pick-'Em" blueberries.
Think of how much fun your kids could have heading out to Leavelle Farms. You can roll the windows down and crank up your favorite songs while enjoying a mini-road trip out to the farm, and once you get there, you can take in the beauty of nature while filling your buckets full of sweet, delicious blueberries. After you've collected your crop, you can head back home and hit the kitchen to make your own pie, cobbler, or jam. It's a memory your children will treasure for the rest of their lives.
If you'd like to head out to Leavelle Farms to pick your own blueberries, you will need to make an appointment ahead of time. Blueberry picking is only offered by appointment due to COVID-19 restrictions, so call (205) 339-7723 to book your blueberry picking session. All customers are required to practice social distancing and public restrooms are not available; the farm is not able to offer additional retail items like bottled water this year.
Berries cost $8 per gallon bucket. If you're not up to a pick-your-own adventure, you can buy pre-picked berries at the farm, too.
