Wind Advisory, Tropical Storm Warnings Continue as Hurricane Irma Pushes Northward
Hurricane Irma continues its northwest track from the coast of Florida, and impacts of the storm will be felt here in Alabama. A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for the eastern portion of the state and a Wind Advisory is in effect for west Alabama.
Sustained winds of 25 mph will be possible in Tuscaloosa, with stronger winds to the east.
Winds will gust up to 36 mph are possible in Tuscaloosa, and higher winds are possible in the east. Places like Auburn and Alexander City could see winds of 52 miles per hour.
Irma will also bring heavy rains to the state. Tuscaloosa could receive up to two inches of rain, while places like Eufala and Auburn could see twice that amount.
