What Do Alabamians Eat For Christmas Dinner?

People always talk about what's on the Thanksgiving menu and that's a valid question. But what about the Christmas meal?

So as my wife and I stood in our kitchen on Thanksgiving eve, we were checking our list to make sure everything was cooked. The dressing was checked off, the ham, candied yams, mac & cheese, and the collard greens were still cooking.

When she finally got a chance to sit down and relax after cooking all day she said " I'm not doing all this cooking for Christmas. We're eating out!" as she stretched out on the couch.

Our 9-month-old son was running around the house all day wanting attention and she had been dealing with him and cooking food since 9 am. I could tell she was beyond tired. I don't blame her at all. I was exhausted at the thought of doing all of the work she did.

After she said that I started thinking of my mom back home in Florida. She'd always say something similar. Her thing was, she's either cooking for Thanksgiving or Christmas but not both. Our house was THEE house to be on holidays so I could feel her pain.

While reminiscing about home, I had one major question come to mind. What do people in Alabama eat for Christmas? I'd really love to know if it's different or pretty much the same as what we ate in Florida. I decided to think about everything we'd eat for Christmas back home.

Here's my list of foods you can eat for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
