The 5th annual Tuscaloosa Half Marathon presented by CNL Financial is set for March 4, 2017.

Registration for the 13.1 mile half marathon, and the 3.1 mile 5k  race presented by The Radiology Clinic, is now available at tuscaloosahalfmarathon.org. Races begin at 7 am at the Tuscaloosa Amphitheater.

Beneficiaries from this year's race include The Kiwanis Club of Greater Tuscaloosa, ReadBAMARead and Art's 'n Autism. In total, the race has provided $177,000 over four years to its charities. Organizers hope to add to the overall total this year to allow the charities to continue to grow and share the monetary gifts received.

Co-race director Kelsey Rush said,

It is the result of thousands of runners and tremendous community support that the THM has had the opportunity to give support to local charities. From rebuilding parks and school libraries as a result of the 2011 tornado, to supporting young adult programs with Art's 'n Autism, or fighting to beat diseases like Cystic Fibrosis and Spinal Muscular Atrophy, participants truly run for a purpose when participating in this annual run.

Although the ultimate goal of the race has not changed, participants will be challenged with a new course due to positive revitalization around the city. Participants and spectators can view the course map at all Tuscaloosa Half Marathon social media sites, as well as the official website beginning Monday, January 23.

Rush also commented,

While the course has changed, runners can still expect to see highlights of the beautiful historic neighborhoods of downtown Tuscaloosa, Bryant Denny Stadium and the out-skirts of the University of Alabama campus, as well as the scenic Tuscaloosa Riverwalk.

The current cost to register for the race is $80, and can be completed at tuscaloosahalfmarthon.org. Late registration of $85 begins February 15th. Registration options for the 5k race are also listed on the website. Details for the Race Expo and Post Race Party will be released soon.
