Tropical Storm Arthur Is The First Named Storm

We are not too far away from the "official" start to Hurricane Season, which is June 1, 2020, until November 30, 2020.  However, we now have our first named storm for 2020, and it is a Tropical Storm named Arthur.  According to CNN, "This would be the sixth year in a row that a storm will have formed before the start of hurricane season on June 1." Granted at the time of this story, Arthur only has top winds of 40 miles per hour and 120 miles moving north-northeastward.   This means the anticipation for Tropical Storm Arthur to pass pretty close to the North Carolina's Outer Banks on Monday.  Currently, the National Weather Service has a "Tropical Storm Warning now in effect for a portion of the North Carolina coast.  Tropical-storm-force winds and heavy rains are expected on Monday." Tropical Storm Arthur's main concern now is for the Southeast coast and dangerous rip currents and rough surf.

Here are the Atlantic Hurricane Names for 2020 found at the Farmers' Almanac, Arthur, Bertha, Cristobal, Dolly, Edouard, Fay, Gonzalo, Hanna, Isaias, Josephine, Kyle, Laura, Marco, Omar, Paulette, Rene, Sally, Teddy, Vicky, and Wilfred.
