Police Arrest 19-Year-Old Suspect in University Mall Shooting
Police in Tuscaloosa have arrested 19-year-old Lamarcus Daequan Jones, one of the suspects believed to have been involved in a shootout outside the University Mall last weekend that injured two.
Captain Marty Sellers of the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit said Jones was arrested early Friday afternoon. He faces one charge each of attempted murder and first-degree assault.
The Saturday evening shooting at the mall injured a 24-year-old man who police believe was involved in the violence as well as a 15-year-old girl that investigators say was an innocent bystander.
Sellers said earlier this week that at least three people were armed during the altercation, and more arrests may be made.
