A new-to-market pizzeria is coming to Northport in the shopping center to be built next to the city's Civic Center on McFarland Boulevard, a city councilman announced Friday afternoon.

Jeff Hogg, who represents Northport's District 5 and co-chairs its retail committee, said on Facebook that the city council is always seeking to bring new businesses to Northport, especially those that are not already located across the river in Tuscaloosa.

To that end, the city and developer Inge Beeker have reached and agreement with Papa Murphy's Take N' Bake to open a location in the shopping center that Beeker is planning to build around a new Platnet Fitness gym.

"Papa Murphy’s will be located in the NEW and IMPROVED Shopping Center next to City Hall. We are hopeful that this will be a center of numerous food options in the years to come," Hogg said.
