Only the real ones know about it--what about you?

If you've driven down 15th Street at anytime, then you've passed by the Flowers Bread Factory. It's right across the street from Monnish Park at the intersection of Hackberry Lane and 15th Street.

It's not like I have to tell you what they make at the daggum bread factory, but what I am here to tell you is that I can determine if someone is TRULY from and loves my Druid City if they, too, adore that bread smell.

There are so many things I love about Tuscaloosa, but no cap: this is in my top five.

I walked out of my front door this morning. I clutched my cardigan shut, as it was about 52 degrees outside. It felt like FALL--and in that crisp autumn air I caught a whiff of the bread factory.

I LOVE IT SO MUCH.

It smells like home to me. I know my being a carb connoisseur means I will always have an affinity for the scent of any treat in the oven, but y'all, there is just something special about the smell of that bread factory.

I first moved to Tuscaloosa in 2009 and stayed in the Forest Lake neighborhood for two years. My proximity to the bread factory meant I would be able to smell what the Rock was cookin' almost every morning and some evenings, too.

When I smell the Flowers factory, I feel safe. I feel content. I feel like I am HOME.

I've had this conversation with many townies before, and they all feel the same way. Bread gang for life!
