A host of country artists took the Grand Ole Opry stage on Tuesday night (Oct. 25) for the 2016 Opry Goes Pink event, this year merged with Jason Aldean's annual Concert for the Cure.

Aldean was the one to turn the Opry’s iconic barn backdrop pink by flipping a switch to light up the stage; he was also the one to present a check for more than $450,000 to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. In addition to Aldean, the night included performances from Hillary Scott & the Scott Family, Montgomery Gentry, Chris Young (who was joined by surprise guest Cassadee Pope), Jeannie Seely and Mickey Guyton; Randy Travis made an appearance as well.

“It was a pretty full-circle moment for me to be able to bring this show back to Nashville, where it got started, as we go over the $3 million mark,” Aldean says in a press release. “I could see a lot of family and friends out in the audience this year, which is a big reminder that we still have to keep fighting this disease."

Fighting breast cancer isn’t just good for the singer’s image; rather, Aldean takes the issue very personally.

“My best friend lost his wife to breast cancer, and she was in her very early 30s,” he shares. “I was there. I watched it all go down. I watched him deal with that and her go through it and her leaving behind two daughters. That to me was sort of an eye-opener.”

He adds, “I have a wife. I have two daughters. I have a mother, a stepmom, a sister … I mean, I have women in my life that are very important, and to me, it’s something I would never want to see them go through.”

With the money raised in 2016, Aldean's Concert for the Cure has now raised more than $3.3 million throughout its 11 years. Susan G. Komen recently named Aldean a More Than Pink Hero in honor of his support for the fight against breast cancer.

“Through the generosity of Jason Aldean and his devoted fans, we have the opportunity to increase our support for critical breast cancer research along with education, screening and treatment programs for millions of women, men and families in Nashville and all over the world,” says Dr. Judy Salerno, president and CEO of Susan G. Komen. “His commitment to this cause has been unwavering, and through his support, we’re one step closer to our vision of a world without breast cancer.”
