In-state students at The University of Alabama, The University of Alabama at Birmingham and The University of Alabama in Huntsville have their tuition freezes reinstated after a "marginal" bump in 2022-2023 to "account to inflation."

Prior to the increase, UA students saw a tuition freeze for five years while those attending UAB and UAH got the same for four.

Out-of-state students at UA experienced a 4% tuition increase last year. They'll see a 3% increase in the 2023-2024 academic year, along with their peers attending UAB and UAH.

“I applaud our UA System and campus leaders for implementing cost-effective measures and practicing careful fiscal management, which made the Board’s decision to reinstitute a Systemwide in-state tuition freeze possible for the upcoming academic year,” Board of Trustees President Pro Tempore W. Stancil Starnes said in a statement.
