Corporal Reginal King, a spokesperson for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Troopers, said the deceased was 78-year-old Otha Rockett, who lived in Columbus, Mississippi.
King said Rockett was driving a 2017 Chrysler 300 that was struck by a 2011 Toyota Tundra pickup being driven by a 65-year-old man from Reform.
Corporal King said Rockett was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and a passenger in the Toyota were both hurt and transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus for treatment.
A 71-year-old woman in the Chrysler was also badly injured and airlifted to North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo for treatment.
