The National Weather Service in Birmingham has issued a "Heat Advisory" for portions of central Alabama on Friday, July 28.

As of Thursday at  2 p.m., the heat advisory has been reported to run from noon to 7 p.m. on Friday. NWS in Birmingham reports that head index values "up to 106" degrees are expected.

What Areas Will Be Under the Heat Advisory?

The "Heat Advisory" impacts the following counties: Autauga, Bibb, Blount, Chilton, Coosa, Dallas, Elmore, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Jefferson, Lamar, Lowndes, Marengo, Marion, Montgomery, Perry, Pickens, Shelby, St. Clair, Sumter, Talladega, Tuscaloosa, Walker, and Winston.

Precautions to Take

The National Weather Service recommends drinking plenty of fluids and staying out of the sun.

Never leave young children and pets unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. Take precautions if you work or spend time outside.
