A Birmingham woman was killed Monday afternoon in a single-vehicle crash in Walker County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Elaine S. Lindstrom, 37, was pronounced dead at the scene after the 2025 Nissan Sentra she was driving left the roadway, struck a ditch, went airborne, and entered the Mulberry Fork tributary of the Black Warrior River.

Senior Trooper Gregory Corble, a spokesperson for ALEA, said the crash occurred at approximately 2 p.m. Monday on Interstate 22 near the 74-mile marker, about three miles southeast of Cordova. Lindstrom was not wearing a seat belt at the time.

Troopers with ALEA's Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.

Cordova is in Walker County, approximately 45 miles northeast of Tuscaloosa.
