The University of Alabama is once again celebrating record-setting enrollment numbers, topping 42,000 students and continuing a long trend of annual growth at the Capstone.

Official student population numbers are released about a month after students return to campus for the fall semester. On Monday, a UA spokesperson announced that they welcomed 42,360 students this Fall. It's another all-time high for the Capstone and a nearly 4 percent bump over the 40,826 who enrolled last fall.

UA also added 362 National Merit Scholars to the freshman class - that figure has grown every year since 2018, as Alabama focuses on attracting the highest-caliber students possible.

The University stated that the student population comprises scholars from every one of Alabama's 67 counties, all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and 99 countries worldwide.

“The University of Alabama is defining the future of higher education — a student-centered university focused on creating leaders to serve current and future workforce needs of the state and the nation,” UA President Peter J. Mohler said in a press release. “Our momentum is powered by students representing all 67 Alabama counties, with an impact that will continue to transform lives in Alabama and beyond.”

Significant increases were reported for Early College enrollment as UA continues to make it more affordable and accessible, and the nursing college population grew 15 percent, Alabama said.
