A political demonstration is scheduled to take place in downtown Tuscaloosa this weekend as local groups prepare to participate in the "No Kings" movement.

The event will be held Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Government Plaza, located at 618 Almon Avenue in Tuscaloosa.

Organizers are inviting residents to attend the demonstration, participate in discussions about democracy and take advantage of opportunities to register to vote or check their voter registration status.

The event is part of the "No Kings" movement, which uses the slogan "We the People" to emphasize democratic participation and opposition to what participants view as excessive concentration of political power.

The Tuscaloosa event is being promoted with the message "Say No Kings!" and encourages community members to make their voices heard through civic engagement.

Several organizations are featured on the event's promotional flyer, including Indivisible West Alabama, BHAM 501, Montgomery Freedom Fighters, Leftist Collective and Donuts + Democracy.

Donuts + Democracy will also provide donuts for attendees during the demonstration.

In addition to the rally itself, organizers are emphasizing the importance of voter participation by encouraging residents to confirm their registration information and prepare for future elections.

The demonstration offers an opportunity for residents who support the movement to gather publicly and express their political views.

Government Plaza, a public gathering space in downtown Tuscaloosa, will serve as the location for the three-hour event.

The demonstration is scheduled for Saturday, October 17, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
