Alpha Omicron Kappa also known as AOK, is a leadership development organization for high school girls. AOK's focus is community service and academic excellence which all started in the fall of 2006, and began as an official organization in 2007.

AOK has members who are currently students at multiple high schools across Tuscaloosa. On Valentine's Day, the members of Alpha Omicron Kappa visited the elderly to spread love.

"In addition to leadership development, our organization is community service focused, so our members are always thinking of great things to do, they decided to go to a local senior living facility to spread love and give out cards for Valentine’s Day, AOK Advisor Meredith Harris.

AOK member Ma’Kiyah described the sheer joy she felt bringing good energy to the residents at the senior living facility.

"As teens, we love to feel loved on special holidays like this and yesterday I saw that the residents we visited did as well. Seeing the way it warmed their hearts when we gave them something as simple as a card was the highlight of my day," Ma’Kiyah said.

"It feels great to have done this for Valentine’s Day, as it is the holiday of love and reminds us that love doesn’t just come from a significant other, but anyone who has the heart to do so!"
La’Doriah, another member of AOK said "This project was important to me because everyone should feel loved, so why not show love on Valentine’s Day for our community?"

It's great to see young people remembering and looking out for our seniors in West Alabama on Valentine's Day.

AOK member Taylor said, "Some residents don’t get many visitors and us showing up made a difference. Community service is supposed to be something you enjoy doing and not something you do just because. Seeing all the smiles and hearing all the stories about how we made their day really made me glad that we not only made them happy, but it made us happy as well."
