Free Food Giveaway Coming to Greene County October 28
Families in Eutaw and Greene County will have another opportunity to receive free food as local organizations come together for a community food distribution later this month.
Legacy Medical Training Center and Legacy Community Resource & Training Network are organizing a second community food drive on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. in the Carver Middle School parking lot in Eutaw.
The event follows what organizers described as a successful first food distribution and aims to provide additional assistance to families throughout Greene County.
Food will be distributed through a drive-thru system on a first-come, first-served basis until supplies run out.

No registration is required, allowing residents to receive assistance without completing an application beforehand.
The initiative brings together several community organizations working to address food insecurity and connect families with resources.
Participating partners include United Purposes Inc., The Life Center Organization, Greene County PARA, MAPS at the University of Alabama, ACE CDL Professional Driver Training Academy and the West Alabama Food Bank.
Organizers also recognized Eric Gaines of RE101 Real Estate for providing financial support to help make the distribution possible.
In addition to providing food, the event highlights the importance of partnerships between local businesses, nonprofit organizations and community leaders.
Organizers say their mission extends beyond individual food distributions, focusing on building relationships and connecting residents with resources that can make a lasting difference.
Volunteers are also needed to help with the event. Those interested in assisting are asked to arrive at Carver Middle School by 8 a.m., two hours before distribution begins.
Residents planning to receive food are encouraged to arrive early because supplies are limited and distribution will end once all available food has been given away.
The free food drive will take place Wednesday, October 28, starting at 10 a.m. at Carver Middle School in Eutaw.
