Predicting Four West Alabama High School Games
Last week I went 4-0 and for the season I'm now 8-2.
Cold Springs at Tuscaloosa Academy
The Knights can clinch a region title and playoff one seed with a home win. Cold Springs has a formidable offense, but so does the home team. Quarterback Preston Lancaster and TA take home the crown, 38-24.
Sipsey Valley at Hale County
This one also has playoff implications, and normally I would go with the home team, but the arm of LJ Cormier of the Bears cannot be overlooked. Sipsey wins, 31-14.
Vestavia Hills at Tuscaloosa County
The Wildcats started strong this season but don't seem to be finishing that way. Meanwhile, the visiting Rebels have one of their finer teams in recent memory. It's not likely to be a happy night in Wildcat Stadium. Vestavia wins it, 24-14.
McAdory at Hillcrest
Hillcrest has Bryant-Denny aspirations. That's the site of the State Finals this year in the AHSAA. McAdory is loaded with athletes. Could this be a trap game for the Pats? Not likely. Go with Hillcrest, 35-21.
We will be updating these games and others in West Alabama and the entire state this week on Friday Night Live from 6-9 p.m. CT on Tide 100.9 and 1230 AM WTBC, as well as on the Tide app. This is a good time to download it as both the high school and college seasons are heating up.
We will also have final scores Friday night on the Last Call Scoreboard on TIde and TBC from 10-11 p.m. Both shows will also include live call-ins from our correspondents on site: Simon Besnoy at Hillcrest, Xavier Houston at TA and J.R. Moore at Hale County. Join us! We are your source for West Alabama sports coverage.
