As the University of Alabama moves on from coach Nick Saban and legendary softball pitcher Montana Fouts, the two worlds will combine when the new first lady of Alabama football throws out the first pitch at Wednesday's upcoming matchup.

Team 28 is coming off a 5-0 performance at the Easton Bama Bash. The team has started its season 10-0 and ranked No. 11 in the nation. Its upcoming matchup against North Alabama will have a special guest to throw out the first pitch, the new first lady of Alabama football, Nicole DeBoer.

While her husband Kalen DeBoer has made the rounds appearing at basketball games and the Senior Bowl in Mobile, the rest of the family has relatively avoided the spotlight. Nicole is an athlete in her own right, as she played basketball at the high school and collegiate level.

Make no mistake, as much as the DeBoers are a football family they are also a softball one. Alexis DeBoer, the family's eldest daughter, is a standout softball player. At Bellevue High School in Kirkland, Washington, she not only pitched but hit 14 home runs averaging .683. In addition, she was named first-team All-State in her junior year. Alexis was committed and signed to the Washington Huskies this past November, and she plans to join the team this fall.

Perhaps, with her mom throwing out the first pitch at the upcoming game, coach Patrick Murphy and Team 28 can do some persuading to reunite Alexis with her dad in Tuscaloosa. The game against North Alabama will be on Wednesday, Feb. 21 at 3 p.m. You can listen to the game on 97.5 MeTV and the MeTV app.
