After his team clinched the SEC West with a 49-21 win at Kentucky, Alabama's Nick Saban addressed the media and he's got jokes. Here are highlights.

Opening statement

"I'm really proud of this team. These guys have come a long ways and worked hard. I'm glad our players didn't buy into the 'rat poison' on what could have been a little bit of a  trap game for us.

On shutting down the Kentucky running game

"That was the key to the drill; our number one objective. I think it was rally important we won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball."

On coaching this team

"It's been fun. It seems like every team we've had in recent years there were huge expectations. This team, I didn't have those kind of expectations. I knew it was going to be a work in progress. We've tried every day to teach lessons so they can develop."

On what changed for Jalen Milroe during the bye week

"i don't know if he took some Geritol or what. That's my medicine, us old folks.

"Jalen played really well today. The offense started the game out and set the tempo of the game extremely well. He played extremely well."

On sticking with KoolAid McKinstry at punt returner

"The gunner on that side ran into him. I have every confidence in the world in him. Stay with him? What would you do with him?

"I'm not making excuses, but you can't blame him for that one."

On injuries

"Jermaine Burton is so sick he couldn't even make the trip. Hopefully he will get better. Ja'Corey Brooks has a shoulder. Jaylen Key and Lawson are day to day. I was pleased with the guys that filled in today and took their place. We had to shift guys around in the seondary. Those guys got some valuable expererience end that's going to help us down the roa.."

On the team's development

"They've stayed the course and listened to the coaches on ways they can improve. They also have really good relationships with each other on and off the field."
