Alabama Football Player Arrested for Sexual Assault on Minor
Antonio "Tonio" Ross has been arrested on a sexual assault charge.
According to Al.com, the 19-year-old Alabama football player was indicted by a Calhoun County grand jury for second-degree sodomy.
Alabama law describes second-degree sodomy as a person over the age of 16 engaging in sexual contact with a person under the age of 16 (but more than 12 years old).
As reported by The Montgomery Advertiser, Ross was brought before the grand jury on August 28 and was arrested at his home "without incident" on September 11.
Al.com reported that the victim in the case is a juvenile female. Weaver Police Lieutenant Andy Hunter told Al.com that the victim had been located and was interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center in Calhoun County.
The Alabama stats website, Rolltide.com, has already removed Ross' details. Clicking on the link takes the user to an error page.
Ross was listed on the site as a defensive back from Alexandria Alabama, standing at over six feet tall.
Ross was booked in the Calhoun County Jail on Monday, but has since been released on a $50,000 bond.
