Farming Accident Claims Life Of Local Man

An area man was tragically killed this morning in Coker, as the result of a farming accident.

Jared Waits, 40, was working on a tractor, when the accident took place. According to Tuscaloosa County Metro Homicide Unit Sargent Jeremy Franks, Waits was on a tractor when he was struck by a tree limb. Franks said that Waits was using equipment to move a limb, and the limb was under heavy tension. The limb snapped back and struck Waits.

The accident happened at a farm off Nubbin Road. Investigators were called shortly after 10am to investigate the accident.
