Sunday Outlook from the National Weather Service in Birmingham
What:
Snow accumulations generally up to an inch, except across the northern counties where amounts could be up to two inches
Where:
Across the northern half of Central Alabama and across our southwest counties
When:
Now through 9 pm tonight
Impacts:
Slippery road conditions, especially during bursts of heavier snow. Any remaining moisture will freeze overnight posing a risk of black ice early to mid-Monday morning.
Important James Spann Notes
“Strong pressure gradient winds could gust to 40/45 mph today; this could lead to some scattered power outages.
“Temperatures should be generally in the mid-30s while the snow falls, so roads will be mostly just wet. But remember, we have lots of wrecks on wet roads around here any time of the year, so be careful as always. Some patchy black ice is possible tonight as the sky clears and temperatures drop below freezing. Hopefully, strong winds will dry the roads/bridges quickly, however.”
