Dolly Parton Brings Comedy to 2017 SAG Awards [Watch]
Dolly Parton brought laughter to the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Sunday night (Jan. 29) when she presented the Lifetime Achievement Award to Lily Tomlin.
The two friends co-starred together in the 1980 comedy hit 9 to 5 alongside Jane Fonda, who was unable to attend the awards due to an illness. During Parton's presentation to Tomlin, she joked of the three uniting for a remake of the beloved film.
"People have been talking for years, saying we should make a followup sequel to 9 to 5," Parton said with a big smile, dressed in a shimmering floor-length dress. "We better get after it or we'll have to call it 95."
Of course, she got off some jokes about her famous figure, quipping, "Jane and Lily are not my only two famous girlfriends, right?" and also joking, "Lily is receiving an award I’ve spent my whole life trying to avoid: SAG?!"

Upon accepting her award, Tomlin also had the audience in stitches when she gave some unique advice to aspiring actors.
"Don't be anxious about missing an opportunity. Behind every failure is an opportunity someone wishes they had missed," she said.
The SAG Lifetime Achievement Award is given to an actor who exhibits “outstanding achievement in fostering the finest ideals of the acting profession.”
In November, Tomlin was on hand to present Parton the Willie Nelson Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 CMA Awards. In an interview backstage after the honor, Parton said the acknowledgement won't be slowing her career down.
“It is an honor, and it makes me feel good to feel like I’ve done something to further this business,” the icon says (quote via the Boot). “The fact that all these young women and all these young stars say that I’ve inspired them makes me feel real good.”
“I hope they don’t think because they gave me a Lifetime Achievement Award, I’ll be done,” Parton continues. “It does [inspire me] because it makes me feel like I’m still a part of things, because it makes me feel proud … to actually keep contributing to this life in general and to this business.”
