A new option for summer fun could be in the future for the City of Northport. A new Facebook event page has been created in hopes of creating a water park for the city. Those who would like to see the new recreation option added are urged to attend the Northport City Council meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 2nd to show a public display of interest in the potential project.

The event page was created following a Facebook post from City of Northport District 5 Councilman Jeff Hogg. Hogg urged residents to attend the upcoming meeting to show their support for the potential water park.

"The City will not spend the amount of money to do this without public support. And by public support, I mean organized effort to come to Council Meeting on the night presented and speak in favor or show a united front just by being in attendance. If 10 people show up (out of 26,000 residents), then it will look like this is not supported city wide. Basically what I am saying is, if you want this to be a priority of the Council, you and your families have to make it a priority to be there in attendance," he said.

Hogg also said the City of Northport is financially sound and is in a good position to build the park.
