Who doesn’t love the fair?  From the attractions, rides, petting zoo, and of course, the fair food, it’s a great time.  The Alabama State Fair is coming to Birmingham, Alabama from September 18th until September 27th.  It’s all taking place at the Birmingham Racecourse.  Click here for a list of attractions, hours, and ticket information.

In our new world of dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic, they have listed the COVID-19 guidelines.  According to the Alabama State Fair website, they even give you access to a thirteen-page COVID-19 Guidelines and Rulebook.

In the overview, it notes that the COVID-19 guidelines and rulebook is to be able to “open in a safe manner.”  Also, “the Ground Rules and Safety Guidelines are established to embrace the health and safety of all employees & attendees.”  Here are the highlights they provided as well:

  • Masks mandatory at ALL TIMES at the Fair. (you can remove mask to eat while seated in designated eating areas)
  • Temperature checks and travel questionnaire administered at entrance to all patrons.
  • If you have had COVID-19 in the past 30 days, you will need to provide clear test results from the past 72 hours.
  • If you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, please DO NOT ATTEND. Consult your physician
  • MUST maintain social distancing with your party from other attendees! (this will be strictly enforced)
  • Abide by ALL 6 feet marking dividers at the lines for rides and concessions. (this will be strictly enforced)

If you plan on attending the Alabama State Fair, be sure you are aware of their guidelines before attending.  Also, I found this a great suggestion in that the “ALABAMA STATE FAIR recommends that attendees who meet the CDC definition of “People Who Are at Higher Risk of Severe Illness” do not attend the event. If you are unsure if you meet the CDC definitions, please consult with your physician.”
