Cotton Bowl Ticket Conundrum: Seats Still Available for Tide Fans

The College Football Playoff Semifinal between Alabama and Cincinnati is days away. However, seats at AT&T Stadium are far from full. In fact, tickets are currently not as expensive as many would expect.

A quick check of SeatGeek reveals starting prices to get into the game, at the time of writing, is only $150. This is a far cry from the Alabama-Georgia matchup in the SEC Championship. And that game was a highly anticipated showdown between the two teams with CFP implications if Alabama were to lose.

Checking ticket prices for the other Semifinal game between Georgia and Michigan reveals prices are a little higher. SeatGeek shows the lowest price, at the time of writing, is $184. So the Orange Bowl has the slight advantage in the more intriguing CFP Semifinal for fans.

It's also likely possible that because this is Michigan's first ever CFP appearance and Georgia's second appearance that fans are buying tickets for the game in Miami. But why aren't Tide and Bearcat fans packing out AT&T Stadium is really question worth answering.

Alabama, sans for a one year absence, has been consistently involved in the College Football Playoff. Cincinnati, on the other hand, is in their first appearance in CFP, and is the first team to make the playoffs for the American Athletic Conference.

Could it be that because Alabama played in Dallas last year in the Rose Bowl that fans aren't turning out? Or is it truly fans on both sides saving money for a possible National Championship trip to Indianapolis?
