Community Kickball Tournament Coming to Tuscaloosa County, Alabama
Kickball is one of the easiest sports to play, and next month a tournament featuring the sport will come to Tuscaloosa County.
The charity tournament, hosted by Coaling Baptist Church, will benefit a great cause. All proceeds will go to Defend the Orphans, a ministry-based nonprofit seeking to spread the Gospel to orphanages around the world.
Anyone who wants to play can form a team, and there are two divisions: adults and students. Student teams have the ability to have two players over the age of 19, but that is the limit. Team names also have to be family-friendly.
To enter, teams must pay a $150 entrance fee, which includes lunch for the team. To register your team, players can call Travis Seagle at 205-394-2858 or email him at travis@coalingbaptist.com. Teams must be registered by Aug. 15.
The double-elimination tournament will take place at Coaling Park on Saturday, Aug. 21. Every team will get to play two games before the day is done. T-shirts benefiting the DTO Ministry will available at the tournament, and can be preordered at Coaling Baptist Church or by calling Terry Smith at terrysmith197388@gmail.com.
Concessions will also be available, with fried fish plates on the menu. Spectators can preorder a plate by contacting Coaling Baptist Church at 205-556-2775 or by email at office@coalingbaptist.com.
Volunteers are needed to help make everything run smoothly, and many slots are still open. Roles such as team/ballfield assistants, check-in table attendants, concessions workers, and fish fryers are needed.
Those interested in volunteering can sign up at Coaling Baptist Church, or contact Lauree Spurlin using Facebook Messenger, texting 205-792-3515, or emailing alspurl@gmail.com.
